Product Development Manager

Kitsch LLC is currently looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Product Development Manager. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. This person should be able to manage a growing team and collaborate with other departments to achieve overall goals on time. This is a full-time position.

Job Responsibilities and Key Result Areas:

  • Product Strategy & Vision for Haircare Consumables: Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy for Kitsch's haircare consumables line, which includes shampoos, conditioners, treatments, styling products, and related accessories. Ensure the product roadmap aligns with consumer needs, market trends, and sustainability goals.
  • Market Research & Data-Driven Decisions: Analyze consumer feedback, sales data, and market trends to identify opportunities for new products and improvements to existing formulations. Keep a pulse on emerging trends in the haircare industry, including clean beauty, natural ingredients, and eco-friendly packaging.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Collaborate closely with the marketing, sales, and operations teams to ensure successful product launches. Lead internal cross-functional meetings to align on product development goals, timelines, and promotional strategies.
  • Innovation & Sustainability: Lead the development of new, high-performance formulations that meet the demands of modern consumers. Prioritize sustainability by incorporating eco-friendly ingredients and packaging solutions, minimizing waste, and aligning with Kitsch’s environmental values.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing product development team specializing in haircare consumables. Foster an environment of creativity, collaboration, and accountability, ensuring the team has the resources and support needed to succeed.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of haircare consumables, from ideation and formulation to packaging and final production. Ensure timely product launches while maintaining high quality standards and adherence to budget.
  • Budget Management & Cost Control: Manage the product development budget for the haircare consumables line, ensuring financial goals are met and cost-saving opportunities are identified without compromising quality.
  • Formulation & Product Enhancements: Work closely with R&D and external partners to formulate new products and enhance existing formulas. Ensure products deliver on both performance and safety standards for all hair types.
  • Photoshoot & Marketing Coordination: Work with the marketing team to coordinate photoshoots, product testing, and branding strategies for new product launches. Ensure that all marketing assets effectively highlight product benefits and resonate with the target audience.
  • Sustainability Reporting: Track and report on sustainability efforts for haircare consumables, including the use of organic or sustainably sourced ingredients and environmentally friendly packaging initiatives.

About You:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, product design, chemistry, or a related field. An advanced degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
  • Haircare Industry Expertise: At least 8 years of experience in product development within the beauty industry, with a focus on haircare consumables (shampoos, conditioners, styling products, etc.). A deep understanding of consumer behavior, ingredient trends, and market dynamics in the haircare sector is essential.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams. Experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with R&D, marketing, sales, and operations.
  • Formulation & Ingredient Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of haircare ingredients and formulations, including understanding the latest trends in clean beauty, natural ingredients, and haircare product efficacy.
  • Strategic & Data-Driven: Ability to develop a product strategy that incorporates market research, consumer insights, and data analysis. Comfortable working with data analysts to generate actionable insights for product decisions.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and achieving profitability targets within product development. Familiarity with financial metrics and their impact on product development and profitability.
  • Project Management: Expertise in managing complex product development projects, ensuring all milestones are met on time and within budget. Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello).
  • Sustainability Focus: Experience integrating sustainable practices into product development, including eco-friendly formulations, packaging, and ethical sourcing.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Photoshoot & Production Experience: Experience coordinating product photoshoots and overseeing production to ensure high-quality visual assets are delivered in alignment with brand standards.
